(a) Teach students to pronounce consonants and vowels of Hangul. Demonstrate accurate pronunciation and indicate correct movement of mouth.
(b) Show pictures of objects, and have students say corresponding Hangul names of the objects.
(c) Use picture cards, word cards, number cards and other supplementary material to practice pronouncing Hangul words. For words that sound differently from the way they are written, read them to students repeatedly until they learn the correct pronunciation.
(d) To maintain attention of toddlers, play taped songs and taped pronunciation of words, and have them repeat after the tapes.
(e) Divide students in several groups, and have them take turns in listening, reading, and repeating after teacher.
(a) Can students repeat the Hangul words and letters that the teacher reads to them?
(b) Can students associate pictures of objects with their Hangul names?
(c) Can students find similar consonants and vowels in several different words?
(d) Can students clearly pronounce Hangul letters when prompted by the teacher?
(e) Can students name objects and people around them in Hangul? (For examples, body parts, family members, and objects in the classroom.)
(f) Can students tell a story given a series of picture illustrations?
(g) If one picture is missing from a series of pictures in a story, can students fill the gap and complete the story?
(h) Can students sing some Korean nursery songs?
(a) Practice writing consonants and vowels of Hangul letters using a pre-printed notebook.
(b) Learn the correct shapes and sounds of Hangul letters.
(c) Practice writing from top to bottom, and from left to right.
(d) Practice writing students' names, their parents' names, siblings' names, and the names of their friends, pets, favorite food, favorite place, etc.
(e) Show picture cards and have students say the names of objects in the cards. Teacher writes the names on the board or on either using the OHP (Overhead Projector) or LCD Projector and students repeat the writings in their notebook.
(f) Learn Hangul names of numbers and practice writing them.
